Overview

Francie’s Cabin, built in 1994, is located south of Breckenridge, Colorado in the popular Crystal Lakes drainage. The cabin is named for Frances Lockwood Bailey, a former resident of Breckenridge who died in a tragic plane crash in 1989. Since opening to guests, Francie’s Cabin has become the most visited hut in Colorado. Herb’s Sauna at Francie’s Cabin was built in memory of Francie’s brother Herb Lockwood, who wrote his college thesis on the geology of the Crystal Lakes Basin.
Hutmasters: Each cabin has a separate Hutmasters' Quarters. Summit Huts Association's Hutmasters and staff use these rooms regularly to service and maintain the cabins. SHA realizes that groups that book the entire cabin are seeking an experience with just their party. Please understand we may access the Hutmasters' Quarters at any time to maintain an exceptional guest experience. All Hutmasters and staff are expected to respect the privacy of guests during their time at the cabin.
